I never knew this, but sleeping on your left side can improve your health. It can even go as far as to save lives. In holistic medicine the left side of the body is the dominant lymphatic side. This probably means nothing to you, but while you are sleeping on this side your body has more time to filter toxins, lymph fluid and waste through the thoracic canal and lymph nodes.
When you are sleeping on your right side, the lymphatic system can work slower. You do not want this to happen, because a lymphatic system that is not working at full capacity is not capable of filtering toxins or let the lymph fluid flow through the body. This increases the chance of illnesses due to toxin build up. If you start sleeping on your left side you will notice your body releasing more toxins.
